Kinja'd!!!

Going through a green light at 50mph and suddenly a douchebag in a pickup in the oncoming lane turns left, right across my side of the road. Driving licenses of some idiots must be yanked when they pull idiotic and downright dangerous moves like that when speed limits are this high. Why do people switch off their brains when they drive?!

I remember Victorious Secret getting into an accident of this type and I think he wasn't going as quick and yet got injured. Having a pregnant wife in the seat beside you somehow turns the rage up a few notches.

This happens a lot at one particular intersection I cross twice a day. Frustrating.

Um...did he go into the 2nd lane? Or are you saying he totally skipped the right lane and went into the 1st lane...

That is why protected turn signals exist. Unfortunately, they are slowly being replaced by flashing yellow arrows. The hell, Congress?

Wow, I literally just stepped out of the drivers seat of my moms car with my sister and my 9 month old nephew in tow.

The last turn I made before getting home was a left across two lanes of traffic. The car in front of me did exactly what you just described. Two cars, including an f150 had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting that stupid maxima in front of me.

Is this federal change or a state change? I haven't yet seen this conversion in Chicago, So Cal or N VT.

He was in a dedicated left turn lane. I guess the light was solid green for him and he thought he didn't have to yield even if the sign says he has to.

Needs more of the arrow signal, however. It's mandatory to stop the entire time (unless you live in Michigan) when it's red. Perfect for red light cameras!

Mostly in select states. usually Northwest. Seattle is full of them. Even these type of signals got the axe on the theory (and I kid you not) that it is too dangerous.

Had this happen to me a couple years ago. First instantaneous thought was something like, "Really? Why would you do that when there's no possible way I can stop in time?" Then 10000% braking, and had to jink at the last minute to miss him. Pretty much the only time I was happy with my Z4. Made me hate driving for a while though.

Well if you're not paying attention and/or are unaware of the funky light change in the animation or neither party is playing it safe in a last second lane cross it can be rather dangerous. Frankly even the animation that shows a flashing yellow in the link does have a solid green for a dedicated turn phase and then is saying you're going to cross active lanes go at your own risk. But paying attention always helps reduce danger as well.

I was wrong there is one flashing yellow in Pasadena but its for an intersection next to a elevated light rail crossing. It lets drivers in the opposite direction that can turn left to do so when the chances of oncoming traffic is low due to crossing gates down.

So while this may be not a great idea it's not a wretched idea either since you can still turn.
